The Commons at Hermann Park

Project:

The Commons at Hermann Park

Role:

Construction Manager at Risk

Scope:

The 25-acre transformation at Hermann Park reimagined an underutilized area into a vibrant destination featuring water features, play areas, picnic pavilions, an art lawn, and open green spaces framed by lush trees. Designed to draw visitors from surrounding areas, including the Texas Medical Center, Rice University, and nearby neighborhoods, the renovation enhances the park’s appeal with new food service options, expanded picnic areas, and improved entry points that create a more welcoming and accessible experience for all.

Architect:

Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates

Impact:

This project seeks to make the Commons at Hermann Park a premier destination for Houstonians. With the added play areas and options for food service providers, the Commons will provide for an added attraction to supplement visitors to the Houston Zoo, Rice University, Texas Medical Center and other destinations in the Museum District.
