Rice University – Hanszen College
Role:
Construction Manager at Risk
Scope:
This project involved the demolition of a 33,530 square foot student residence and the construction of a new 52,970 square foot mass timber building – marking the first collegiate residential structure of its kind in Houston. Designed for Hanszen College at Rice University, the facility provides 166 beds across five residential floors and includes a basement housing the central mechanical equipment room for the entire building. Located in the heart of an active university campus, the project demanded meticulous planning to prioritize student safety and minimize disruptions to campus life. Ongoing coordination and clear communication with university officials and key stakeholders were essential in maintaining a safe and well-managed construction environment.
