Scope:
Forney Construction provided construction management services for Houston Area Women’s Center’s Phase I new Emergency Supportive Housing project, located next to their existing shelter. The four-story, 113,000 square foot facility includes 135 residential units, classrooms, counseling and training spaces, playgrounds, and a secure outdoor courtyard-expanding HAWC’s ability to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Phase II involves renovating existing buildings into HAWC’s new service delivery site, featuring a Crisis Intake Center, 24/7 hotline, partner services hub, staff offices, a Violence Prevention Training Institute, and outdoor recreation areas. Forney served as the Owner’s representative, coordinating with the project architect, general contractor, and all key partners throughout the project.ation.

Impact:
Since it’s inception in 1977, Houston Area Women’s Center has been serving victims of domestic violence throughout the Houston area by providing crisis response and survivor empowerment. Their continuum-of-care approach seeks to educate the community, shelter those effected, and prevent violence before it happens.
