Hermann Park – Lott Hall
The renovation of Hermann Park’s historic Lott Hall, originally built in the 1930s, included features such as solid masonry walls, large wooden members and grand chandeliers. the surrounding exterior was updated with paving, hardscape and vibrant courtyard gardens to complement this even space’s gorgeous facade. The project team put forth considerable effort to incorporate components such flagstone, timber, hardware, and windows that would match the existing historic materials.

In the true spirit of embracing the multicultural nature of the city itself, landscape architect Jack Ohly of Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates also wanted to capture the spirit of Houston as a melting pot of climates and cultures. “There’s prairie and bayou, we and dry, native and adapted,” he explains. “It feels right to blend things.”
