Scope:

This project at Bovay Ranch included over two miles of new roads and associated clearing, scout fields and parking. The new structures include an administrative and check-in building, new entrance, four restroom and shower buildings, eight campsite pavilions, rifle range, archery range, shotgun facilities as well as the Scouts’ second largest climbing tower in the country at forty-nine feet.

Tellepsen Scout Camp provides adventurous outdoor experiences for youth and their leaders. The camp boasts an impressive eight campsites that accommodate forty-eight individuals per site and offer outdoor weekend activities such as archery, climbing and canoeing. The growth and expansion of the camp has furthered the camp’s goals of building membership and increasing the diversity of its community.

Scope:

The development of a 2,816 acre property near Evergreen, Texas surrounded on three sides by Sam Houston National Forest. The camp opened in 2019 as a first-class facility featuring both a scout camp and a leadership institute. To create a 21st century scouting experience, the camp includes 20 campsites, climbing pavilions, shooting sports center, zip line, extensive trails systems, new lakes and more. The Leadership Institute features a training center, cabins, dormitories, an arena and a chapel.

Impact:

As one of the nations largest values-based youth development organizations, Boy Scouts provides programs for young people to build character through educational and recreational activities. Camp Strake has served as one of the Boy Scout’s flagship campgrounds for seven decades and will carry out the rich history and mission of the former campsite at the new Evergreen location.
