Scope:
New construction of a 6,500 square foot bull elephant barn, expansion of existing yard and 130,000 gallon lagoon pool for the Houston Zoo’s elephants. Doubling the size of the previous habitat, the project included a new boardwalk to provide unobstructed views of the yards and high-end and unique finishes for a consumer-facing hospitality project with a focus on sustainability. With a conscious emphasis on durable and natural materials, this project was designed and constructed to last for many years with very low maintenance.

Impact:
The Houston Zoo hosts over 2 million guests each year and is in alignment with multiple conservation efforts including organizations that work to stop elephant poaching and the illegal ivory trade. This project will support The Houston Zoo’s vision of leading the global movement to save wildlife.
